So… this happened.
Guard Dog is officially out in the world.
And I’m feeling a lot of things: excited, overwhelmed, proud, amazed, terrified… mostly terrified because now everyone knows I like to read and write smut. 🙃
But also? I’m really happy.
Publishing Guard Dog—my first novel—has been one of the wildest and most rewarding things I’ve ever done. What started as a spicy little idea about a broody ex-Marine and a romance author who somehow stops a kidnapping of a cartel princess has turned into something real. A real book. On real pages. With real readers (!!!).
This week I’m:
Letting my friends and family know (some of them are VERY surprised)
Refreshing my Amazon page way too often
Trying to step back, breathe, and enjoy it
But also, getting back to work on Book 2 of the Guard Dogs series: Watch Dog
The biggest surprise? I didn’t just love writing the book—I loved the entire process. The editing. The cover design. (Cue professional feedback to cover designer – “No, no, no. Hee has to be even more sexy. And he has to have a tattoo on his chest showing.”) The late-night formatting rabbit holes. Even setting up my own publishing imprint: Crimson Quill Publishing, LLC (because why not go full chaos).
Of course, now comes the hard part: doing it all again.
I’ve promised that Watch Dog—featuring a hacker bodyguard and that same cartel princess turned viral sci-fi romance author—is coming next. And it is. But first I’m going to let myself sit in this moment for a second or two and be proud.
Thanks to everyone who’s supported me, encouraged me, pre-ordered, messaged, reviewed, or even just said, “Wait—you wrote a book??”
Yes. I did. And it’s live.
Love,
Katt
